Adrian College’s commencement ceremony is a landmark event where graduates process in full academic regalia, including the graduation gown, graduation cap (mortarboard), and tassel sets, to mark the culmination of their academic achievement. On the day of the ceremony, participants attend a rehearsal on the Mall wearing their cap and gown, followed by a class photo and baccalaureate service.
The main commencement is held outdoors (rain or shine) with no ticket requirement and unlimited guest seating.
Graduates are instructed to procure and wear their academic regalia correctly—including the standard black gown and mortarboard cap, unless otherwise specified—and to be prepared for the weather when the ceremony is held on the Mall.
The institution highlights that members of the Honors Program will wear an honors cord alongside their gown during the ceremony.
Faculty and other academic officials participate wearing faculty regalia consistent with academic tradition, which complements student attire and presents a unified visual of the academic community. The ensemble of graduation cap, gown, and tassels sets ensures that each graduate is properly attired and aligns with Adrian College’s ceremonial standards. Whether selecting the graduation gown, graduation cap, tassel set, or full academic regalia kit, graduates should ensure their attire meets the established guidelines for Adrian College’s commencement experience.
