Delaware Technical Community College

Delaware Technical Community College (Delaware Tech) hosts its commencement ceremonies annually each May across multiple campuses: Stanton/Wilmington at the University of Delaware, Dover (Terry Campus), and Georgetown (Owens Campus). According to the DTCC Commencement FAQs, all participating graduates are required to wear cap, gown, and tassel, which must be ordered through the campus Bookstore either online or in person.

Delaware Tech’s academic regalia features a navy or dark gown (as seen in official photos) with an emerald green hood or yoke panel on many graduates, reflecting the school colors. The tassel color is standard black (as part of their regalia kit) — there is no publicly stated color variation by degree type.

Honor cords are awarded based on academic distinctions: students with cum laude (GPA 3.25–3.49), magna cum laude (3.50–3.79), and summa cum laude (3.80–4.0) distinctions receive honor cords. Veterans are recognized with a red, white, and blue honor cord, distributed at rehearsals for Dover and Georgetown and at commencement for Stanton/Wilmington.

For honor societies, Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) students may purchase a PTK honors stole and/or honor cord from their society website. Graduates who studied abroad may wear a stole representing that country, as approved by the campus International Education Coordinator.

Delaware Tech’s publicly available commencement resources do not specify faculty regalia colors, such as velvet trim or discipline-based hood linings. In absence of a detailed academic dress chart, vendors and graduates should lean on conventional academic regalia: navy/dark gown, black cap, standard black tassel, and honor cords/stoles aligned with DTCC‑approved honors or societies.
