Academic Regalia: Cap, Gown, Tassel, Hoods
Graduates wear standard academic regalia: a black gown and mortarboard (cap) with a tassel. The tassel is initially attached on the right side for bachelor’s (and blended) degree recipients. After degrees are officially conferred during the ceremony, the tassel is moved to the left side to symbolize graduation.
For master’s‑level graduates (Seminary or blended), a hood is provided instead of—or in addition to—the standard cap and gown.
The institution guidelines explicitly instruct graduates not to decorate their cap or gown (no messages, corsages, or personal adornment).
Under the gown, graduates must wear dark, professional attire: dress pants or skirt/dress (length not longer than the gown), and closed‑heel dark dress shoes (no jeans, shorts, sandals, sneakers).
Note: To confirm the exact colors of the graduation gown, cap, tassel, honor cords, and stoles for your specific program at Grace College and Seminary, you can reach out directly to the college's administration or the office responsible for commencement and student services. They can provide you with the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding academic regalia.
