Indiana Institute of Technology

Indiana Tech holds its main commencement ceremony each May, where graduates from various terms (spring, summer, fall) who filed a “Petition for Graduation” become eligible to participate.

For regalia, Indiana Tech uses the traditional academic dress: the standard graduation gown is black, worn by all degree candidates, faculty, and dignitaries. Graduates receive their cap and gown usually via a spring cap‑and‑gown distribution event; non‑traditional or online students may have their regalia shipped directly.

Tassels and hoods (for graduate or doctoral students) — and other adornments — follow the widely accepted color‑coding system of the American Council on Education / Intercollegiate Bureau of Academic Costume.
