Missouri State University

Missouri State University’s commencement is a well-organized celebration held at Great Southern Bank Arena with multiple ceremonies by college; graduates check in 45 minutes prior and doors open 90 minutes before each ceremony. The university prescribes clear academic regalia: undergraduate robes are maroon with velvet chevrons and panels and hoods are lined maroon and white — reflecting Missouri State’s colors. Master’s regalia follows traditional academic dress with a black cap, an all-maroon tassel, and degree-color velveteen hoods for advanced degrees; master’s regalia is available through the campus Bookstore (not rentable).

Scholastic honors are signaled by honor cordons issued at commencement: summa cum laude (gold), magna cum laude (silver), and cum laude (bronze). Honors College graduates receive a blue stole provided at check-in; additional stoles and cordons are distributed at Grad Fair or at commencement check-in.
