Oconee Fall Line Technical College

OFTC Commencement Ceremony and Academic Regalia

Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC) holds official graduation ceremonies twice a year (Fall and Spring) for students completing degrees, diplomas, or certificates.

To participate in commencement, students must complete a Graduation Application by their last term’s deadline. There is a non‑refundable $40 graduation fee which covers the cost of the credential, award cover, and the cap and gown ensemble. Additional handling fees apply for replacements if required.

Cap and gowns are typically ordered by the college when students pay the fee and submit size information. Gowns and caps are available for pick-up the week of the ceremony at the Registrar’s Office of the student’s campus.

Graduation Attire & Regalia

OFTC requires professional attire under the gown. Students are expected to maintain proper personal appearance in accordance with the college’s professionalism standards.

For students graduating with honors (GPA of 3.5 or above for degree or diploma programs), gold honor cords are awarded and worn during the ceremony. Members of the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) who meet membership criteria may wear a white tassel for the ceremony.

OFTC Graduation Cap & Gown – Academic Regalia Overview

Oconee Fall Line Technical College conducts official commencement ceremonies twice a year (Fall and Spring) for students who complete degrees, diplomas, or certificate programs.

To participate in the commencement ceremony, students must submit a Graduation Application by the final term deadline. Payment of a non-refundable $40 graduation fee is required, which covers issuance of the standard cap and gown ensemble.

Once size information is submitted, the college orders the graduation gown and mortarboard cap for students, which are made available for pick-up during commencement week.

Graduation Attire & Academic Regalia Details

  • Graduation Gown & Cap: Standard traditional academic regalia supplied by OFTC for graduates participating in commencement.
  • Professional Attire Required Underneath: Students are expected to wear business‑appropriate clothing under their gown as per college’s dress code.
  • Honor Cords & Tassels: Students graduating with honors (defined by program GPA threshold) are eligible for special adornments.
  • Honor Recognition: Graduates with qualifying GPA receive gold honor cords; members of the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS), if membership criteria are met, may wear a white tassel for the ceremony.

Regalia by Degree Level — Note: Official OFTC documentation does not differentiate by Bachelor, Master, or Doctoral regalia

Because OFTC is a technical/community college granting diplomas, certificates, and associate‑/technical‑level credentials, there is no public evidence of distinct Bachelor, Master, or Doctoral academic‑regalia color codes or tassel/cord schemes on OFTC’s website or catalog.

Thus: While you may offer “Bachelor cap and gown tassel, honor cord, stoles color”, “Master cap and gown”, or “Doctoral cap and gown” variations, publicly available OFTC sources do not define unique colors or regalia for those categories. For correctness and compliance with OFTC policy, such variation should not be advertised as official unless confirmed by the college.

Important Notes on Faculty or Discipline Regalia

OFTC’s publicly available graduation or regalia documentation does not specify distinct faculty‑regalia colors, discipline‑based hoods, or stoles for academic departments. Hence any marketing or product listing claiming “faculty regalia color” or “other discipline regalia colors” would be speculative — and may mislead customers.
