Examples include Drab for Business, Gold Yellow for Science, Orange for Engineering, White for Liberal Arts, Apricot for Nursing, Red for Technology, and Cool Gray for Multidisciplinary Studies.

Master’s candidates wear a black master-style gown, mortarboard, black tassel, and an academic hood lined with colors corresponding to their discipline. Doctoral candidates wear a black doctoral gown with velvet trim, an 8-sided tam, black tassel, and a hood displaying the official PNW colors and velvet border for their degree field.

Students may also add honor cords or stoles to indicate academic achievements or organizational affiliations as approved by PNW. The tassel, hood, and stole colors clearly denote the graduate’s discipline and academic level.
